New transformation and automation strategy at BOOSTER – “Go iisy” with the help of KUKA iiQoT

With the progress of today’s world, every innovative company is faced with the task of analyzing and restructuring its existing processes and adapting them to innovative and advanced technologies. To meet this challenge, BOOSTER Precision Components has developed a transformation and automation strategy: the “Go iisy” strategy.

The aim is to further accelerate and actively shape the transition to “green mobility” and support diversification into other end markets such as fuel cell and e-mobility. “The individual components of this strategy are made up of the future connectivity of individual manufacturing processes, the flexibilization of manufacturing processes and the integration of artificial intelligence along the entire value chain,” reports Tobias Sauer, Head of Automation at BOOSTER.

KUKA software successfully implemented

Starting with connectivity and the associated “Internet of Things”, the joint development and implementation of the first software to network the existing robot fleet at the plant in Schwanewede and determine process-relevant data has already taken place in recent weeks in collaboration with KUKA Germany. This software is called KUKA iiQoT and can be implemented across all BOOSTER Group sites – it represents the first building block of the strategy. BOOSTER is now in a position to troubleshoot process bottlenecks, plan maintenance centrally and effectively and implement data and changes by networking the robots.

“We are delighted to have successfully mastered the first step of the strategy with iiQoT and are looking forward to the next steps,” says Christoph Dibbert, Managing Director Schwanewede.

This will increasingly focus on flexible automation solutions for manufacturing, logistics and quality processes and how to increase both effectiveness and process reliability by integrating artificial intelligence into the processes.
